A new Senate report warns AI could displace up to 100 million U.S. jobs in the next decade.

Democrats, led by Sen. Bernie Sanders, are pushing for a bold solution: a “robot tax”.

The study shows 20 major workforce sectors at risk — with 15 facing over 50% automation.

The hardest hit? Fast food and counter workers. Nearly 3 million jobs could vanish — an 89% loss.

Other high-risk jobs: customer service, freight movers, and executive assistants — with automation above 80%.

What is the robot tax? A levy on companies for each human job replaced by machines or AI systems.

Funds from the tax would support retraining programs and help replace lost payroll taxes.

Even Bill Gates has backed similar ideas, saying automation winners must “pay their fair share.”

Sanders also proposes a 32-hour workweek, $17 minimum wage, and stronger worker protections.
